What this site is

The East Allen County Project is a grassroots public record of a proposal to establish a new county from twelve civil townships in eastern Allen County, Indiana. Allen County did not create this site. The State of Indiana did not create it. No commissioner, clerk, auditor, election board, or other public office runs it.

A page on this site is not a statute, an ordinance, a filing, or an official map of the county. East Allen County has not been established. The petition is a draft. This site does not collect signatures, and a letter written on the contact page is not sent and is not stored.

Nothing here is legal advice, and nothing here creates an attorney-client relationship. The research quotes the Indiana Constitution and the Indiana Code as published. Those quotations are for reading the proposal against the law. They are not a lawyer’s opinion, and they are not a promise that a petition, an amendment, or a new county will succeed.

County business, a school matter, a tax payment, voter registration, and a candidate filing do not belong here. Use the offices named on the contact page.

Names that are not this project

“East Allen” is also used by other organizations. This project is not East Allen County Schools, not the East Allen County Schools Educational Foundation (EIN 37-1487238), and not East Allen Family Resource Center Inc. (EIN 31-0975312). A shared name is not an affiliation. This project does not speak for them and does not take their mail or their money.

Figures and sources

Land area is measured from U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line civil townships. Population figures are the 2020 Census. The map, the research, the documents, and the petition use that township line. A city limit drawn on the map is the Census place boundary, not a claim that the city has adopted this proposal.

If a figure does not match its source, the correction belongs on the contact page: the page, the figure as printed, and the source. Census publications and the Indiana Code remain the sources. This site does not warrant that a transcription is free of error.

Money

The transparency page is the record of money taken in and paid out. As of that page, nothing has been received and nothing has been spent. This project is not a 501(c)(3). A gift is not tax-deductible. Do not send money until an address and an entity are printed there.

The mark and the pages

The seal, the wording, and the arrangement of these pages belong to the East Allen County Project. The township shapes and the population counts are Census facts and may be used as such. A link to a county office or any other site is not an endorsement, and this project does not control those sites.
